Works On Paper

Patrice Malatestinic, artist, musician, writer, and lecturer, has  been French horn faculty at colleges throughout the Capital  Region since 1990.  Early on, she began creating visual  promotional materials and stage pieces for her students’ concerts,  as well as for her professional faculty recitals. She later began  formally studying Studio Art, by taking classes at Adirondack  Community College, the College of Saint Rose, the University at  Albany, Berkshire Arts Center, and Salem Art works. She has also  studied under art professor-colleagues at Skidmore College. She is  an alumna of the Arts Center of the Capital Region’s Critical  Forum and a member of Alice Sheridan’s Connected Artist Group.  Her work has been featured in juried and member shows at  Albany Center Galleries, Arts Center of Capital Region, Saratoga  Arts Center, Southern Saratoga Artist Society, and Troy’s 2nd  Street Hallway Gallery.

Insights Studio’s September 21st 2024 solo show, Works on Paper,  features an eclectic mix of Patrice’s mostly 2-dimensional work, in  various media (pen and ink, graphite, pastel, watercolor, acrylic,  collage, oil, glass and digital media) created over a span of 10  years.  Some pieces are abstract, some figurative, but they all seem  to inspire narrative. Her work often feels theatrical and humorous - even whimsical. Patrice is fascinated with vibrant color,  linework, and mark making; these elements coalesce organically  with recycled materials in her collage and multi-media work
